Time is ever so fleeting; make it count. Hustling is a mentality. It is a code of conduct. American entrepreneur, Ross Simmonds, says, “Hustle beats talent when talent doesn’t hustle.”
The Importance of Hustle
Regardless of challenges, those afire with hustle do whatever it takes. When in pursuit of a vision, goal, or dream, hustlers don’t allow themselves to become trapped by restraints such as limited time or resources. Incapable of giving up, they view pain and failure as temporary, minor inconveniences on the path to success.
Mothers can teach the importance of hustle by finding ways to show children the benefits of hard work. Instill in them the five pillars of hustle: determination, leadership, preparedness, quality, and time management.
- Determination
Whether chores, homework, or any reasonable goal our children have set out to accomplish, we must teach them to take tasks to conclusion. Quitting and laziness NEVER make dreams come true. Hustlers do not view failure and loss with tragic permanence; we dust ourselves off, rise up, and resume our march confidently towards victory. - Leadership
A hustler must take the lead for making their vision become a reality. As a mission becomes more challenging, leadership becomes more important. Focus passions on getting the job done, pursuing success without concern for who gets the credit. American author, Zig Ziglar, wrote, “You can have anything you want in this world if you help other people get what they want.” - Preparedness
When opportunity knocks, the hustler is ready. Read. Study. Grow. It’s not always easy to maintain laser focus if we are unprepared to pivot or adjust on the fly. Rather than risk being left behind, hustlers strive to be prepared—ready to make the most of new opportunities. - Quality
American automobile manufacturer, Henry Ford, said, “Quality is doing it right when no one is looking.” Hustle must be accompanied by attention to detail, otherwise, its power vanishes. - Time Management
Time management is perhaps the most important of the five pillars of hustle. English biologist, Charles Darwin, wrote, “A man who dares to waste an hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” By fiercely protecting our schedule, a hustler make intentional investments with his or her most precious resource: time.
Chores, Activities, & Rewards for Hard Work
Chores teach responsibility; every family has dishes to do and trash to take out. Mothers who want to foster a hustler mentality make chores part of the daily routine. Let’s see to it that children pursue activities and hobbies that do not involve a smart phone. When we observe our kids working hard or showing determination, leadership, preparedness, quality, and smart time management, we can reinforce their efforts with sincere expressions of appreciation and respect. If we see them hustling extra hard, consider rewarding them with things like a small allowance, new books, or a trip to their favorite restaurant.
Summary
Even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, hustlers stay hustlin’. They acknowledge failures, eagerly accept the opportunity to improve, and come back stronger. Fueled by creativity, determination, and resourcefulness, hustlers find a way.

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”
